Problem: Blade jammed or out of alignment

The most common causes of the blade jamming or coming out of alignment is incorrect use. This may simply be trying to cut more than the specified capacity or not operating the trimmer as per the instructions. In order to prevent this occurring again, please read our step-by-step guide here.

As with all cutting instruments, the blade will dull with use. A blunt blade is another common cause of jamming, as the blade is simply not sharp enough to cut through the paper. How often you change the cutting blade depends on the frequency of use and what it is used to cut. Cutting card and multiple sheets will dull the blade more quickly. Daily use may result in a requirement to change the blade every few weeks where as occasional use will require replacement every few months. Signs of a blunt blade include increased effort required to cut, failure to cut the maximum capacity or a poor finish.
