Problem: Jamming

We are sorry that you Swordfish shredder has jammed. All shredders have different specifications and jamming usually results from trying to shred unsuitable items or attempting to exceed the maximum sheet capacity. To prevent future jamming, check the icons printed on top of the shredder, which show what can be shredded.

Another cause if jamming is failing to oil your shredder regularly. All Swordfish shredders require oiling and it is recommended that you do this each time you empty the waste bin. You must use vegetable or mineral based oil specifically designed for shredders. To purchase Swordfish shredder oil, please visit our website here.

Overfilling the waste bin can cause the shredder to jam as the paper simply has nowhere to go. Some Swordfish shredders have a feature that stops the shredder from working when the bin is full but others require you to check the waste bin manually.

1. Empty the waste bin even if it does not appear full. Has this resolved the problem?
